Area veterans hold annual Christmas party

Veterans of World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam War, Persian Gulf War, their spouses and friends gather around 95-year-old World War II Women’s Air Force Service Pilot Liz Strofus of Faribault. Strofus is a recipient of the Congressional Gold Medal, at the 13th annual Veterans’ Christmas Party in St. Ansgar recently. Also attending of note were: Leo Priebe, of Elma, Iowa, 90th Infantry Division survivor of Omaha Beach landing at Normandy; Richard Helling, of New Hampton, Iowa, Patton’s 3rd Army who was wounded twice during the Battle of the Bulge, and Ruth Perry, of Albert Lea, US Air Force veteran of World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam War.
