The Blooming Prairie girls basketball team had to get a little scrappy, but it was able to pull off a 60-58 double overtime win over United South Central (13-6 overall, 6-5 Gopher) in BP Monday.

BP (14-5 overall, 9-2 Gopher) scored the winning hoop when Madison Worke made a steal with 10 seconds left and she found Sara Noble for a lay-up to put the Blossoms up 60-58. USC’s game-winning 3 missed as time expired.

“It’s a big win,” BP head coach John Worke said. “Things were really stagnant during regulation and the ball wasn’t going in the hoop. We hung in there defensively.”

BP looked like it might be finished in the first overtime. The Blossoms trailed 54-50 with 55 seconds left when Taylor Hagen scored to make it 54-52. Over the last 20 seconds, BP missed two free throws and four shots before Madison Worke, who scored 15 points, scored on a put-back to force the second overtime.

“You just didn’t think it was our night, but we just hung in there and we came up with some stops when we needed to,” John Worke said. “I’m proud of all twelve of our players tonight. Everyone played their role.”

Hagen finished with 17 points, seven rebounds and four steals and Noble had 16 points, five rebounds and three steals.
