The No. 5 ranked Lyle-Pacelli girls basketball team played its closest game of the season as it outlasted Fillmore Central (8-12 overall) 56-50 in Harmony Thursday.
The Athletics (17-0 overall) struggled with their shooting as they shot 29 percent from the field and 26 percent from the field.
Courtney Walter had 16 points and three steals for LP and Sarah Holtz had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
“Tonight was a battle, we didn’t come out with the focus and intelligence that’s necessary to win basketball games and Fillmore Central came to play,” LP head coach Justin Morris said. “We haven’t had a close game all year so hopefully we can grow from tonight’s experience and become a better basketball team because of it.”
LP had won its first 16 games by at least 26 points each.
