It’s time for Girl Scout Cookies

Published 7:26 pm Saturday, February 8, 2014

It’s cookie season, folks.

The Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys began the annual Girl Scout Cookie Program on Saturday. Cookie lovers will be able to purchase their favorite Girl Scout Cookies when more than 27,000 girls begin selling door-to-door and at hundreds of cookie booths. Girl Scouts River Valleys offers six varieties: Do-si-dos, Samoas, Savannah Smiles, Tagalongs, Thin Mints, and Trefoils. The cookie sale runs through March 23.

In 2013, local Girl Scouts earned more than $2.9 million in troop proceeds to use as they wish in their Girl Scout experience. Every year, money earned by girls for their troops supports programs such as camp, domestic and international travel, troop adventures/expenses, and local community service projects. Local proceeds help fund hundreds of programs and activities that interest girls and help them become girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.
