Best Bets: Ready to get pink?

It’s a hot time in a cold town this weekend as plenty of activities are on the schedule. Whether you’re ramping up for Paint the Town Pink or just looking to get a few stretches in, it’s time to have a little fun despite the frigid weather.

Get ready for a good time and great exercise. The Yoga Studio of Austin’s Lindsey Kepper will host a fun yoga event starting at 6 p.m., followed by a selection of red and white wines, along with a chocolate fountain. There are even chair massages! Cost is $30 for non-country club members, $25 for members, $15 for non-drinkers.

2. Rolling to the Derby

7-9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, Brownsdale Roller Rink, 316 Market St. SE, Brownsdale

If you’re looking for a way to support Paint the Town Pink, why not go to Paint the Roller Rink Pink? The Roller Derby Girls will be in action at the Roller Rink in Brownsdale Friday night, so don’t miss out.

3. Snowmobile for a cure

Noon Saturday, Feb. 8, at Frontier Lounge, 124 Mill St. S., Brownsdale

Paint the Town Pink’s Brownsdale weekend has a lot of fun events, including an awesome snowmobile race starting at the Frontier Lounge in Brownsdale. Cost is $5 a sled. Stay for the silent auction and DJ after.

4. Fishing with a cause

Noon-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, East Side Lake, Registration is $10

The 12th annual “Fishing for a Cure” fundraiser is guaranteed to bring a lot of good times, even if the fish don’t make an appearance. Fishermen are bound and determined to raise more money this year, so chip in the $10 entry fee and have a good time out on the ice, which will include drilled holes, prize drawings and a meal at the after party at the Eagles Club.

Other events

There’s plenty of other places to visit this weekend, including the annual winter chill feed at The Bridge in Austin at 11 a.m. Saturday, the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon pancake benefit at the VFW at 8 a.m. Sunday, and plenty of Paint the Town Pink events going on next week before the Austin Paint the Town Pink events kick off in a big way next Friday.
