The brighter side of winter

It’s easy to complain about winter, especially the temperatures Jack Frost threw us this past week. It’s easy to curse the skies, and it’s understandable the desire to shed bulky coats for a more welcoming summer’s day.
But for a few of us, winter means a little more. A season that in some ways feels cleaner on a crisp January morning and can offer more possibilities on a wind-swept, snowy afternoon.
I took a walk one of those frigid mornings this week at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center with a mind to demonstrate what our bleakest month has to offer, and yes, to enjoy just a little bit my favorite time of year.
