With another round of snow dumping on the area, Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger reminds residents shovel around fire hydrants that are adjacent to their properties.

By state statute, residents are required to keep a 3-foot radius shoveled around fire hydrants adjacent to their properties. Officers have noticed some hydrants becoming buried after several rounds of snow. Krueger urges neighbors to help each other out during such snowstorms.

“Anything would be appreciated,” he said.
