Memorial service for Sharon Kasten will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at the LeRoy Lutheran Church with the Rev. Herman Bakker officiating. Burial will be in the Big Spring Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call at the church for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Sharon K. Kasten, 67, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Sharon was born Oct. 31, 1946, in Spring Grove, Minn., to Darrel and Jarla Johnson. She graduated from Rose Creek High School in 1964. Sharon married David Kasten on Oct. 1, 1966, in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Austin, Minn. They had two children that they raised on a farm near LeRoy, Minn.

Sharon is preceded in death by her beloved sister, Polly. The two of them loved to take trips to Lake Tahoe and Virginia. Sharon is also preceded in death by her son, Rodney. The two of them shared a love of flowers, cooking, baking, and entertaining family. She was never the same after that tragic day in June 2002, and it gives her family tremendous peace knowing the two of them are reunited once again.

Sharon loved her family, her cats, playing bridge, bingo, and taking trips to Virginia to see her daughter and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, David Kasten, of LeRoy, Minn.; one daughter, Rhonda (David) Tuck, of Lake Monticello, Va.; four grandchildren, Riley Kasten, of Byron, Minn.; Hayley Tuck, Allyson Tuck, and Aiden Tuck, of Lake Monticello, Va.; two sisters, Pam Meling, of Austin; and Cindy Graham, of Austin; and two brothers, Rick Johnson, of Austin; and Randy Johnson, of Rose Creek, Minn.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Darrel and Jarla Johnson; her sister and brother-in-law, Polly,  and Gary Kraling; and her son, Rodney Kasten. Condolences may be left at www.Hindtfuneralhomes.com.
