After losing five meets by one match this season, the Packer wrestling team edged out Mankato East 39-36 in Mankato Friday.

“It was great getting our first Big Nine dual win after being so close so often,” Austin interim head coach Jer Osgood said. “I look forward to having two great weeks of practice and starting the New Year by building off of this momentum.”

Austin got a big boost from its lower weights as 103-pounder Christopher Romero, 113-pounder Danny Albarran and 126-pounder Aiden Wilson all picked up pins for the Packers (2-7 overall, 1-4 Big Nine).
