Genevieve Margaret Anderson, 92, of Austin, died early Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at Adams Health Care Center, Adams, Minn.

She was born June 16, 1921, in Olmsted County, Minn., to Arthur and Lydia (Schroeder) Griffing. She was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Stewartville, Minn.. After attending Stewartville schools, Genevieve married Thomas Anderson in Osage, Iowa, on Oct. 26, 1940. She spent her married life as a homemaker, raising two sons with Thomas. An excellent baker, Genevieve also enjoyed making lefse and candy, visiting with family, reading, and playing cards. She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church. After Thomas’ death in 1996, Genevieve moved to the Courtyard Apartments in Austin.

Genevieve is survived by her sons, Robert (Eileen) Anderson, of Rochester, Minn.; and Garry (Connie) Anderson, of Coon Rapids, Minn.; four grandchildren, Dean (Michelle) Anderson, Gregory Anderson, Michelle (Scott) Ice and Danielle (Michael) Sturgill; nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Lydia Griffing, her husband Thomas Anderson, a daughter Sharon Kay in infancy, a sister Bernadine Roberts, and two brothers Donald Griffing and Arthur Griffing.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with Rev. William Odermann officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will be in Bear Creek Cemetery, Grand Meadow, Minn.
