Developer hopes to attract 6 tenants

A retail developer is building a strip mall near the Austin Walmart, and its first two tenants may be a tanning salon and an AT&T retailer.

Pat Flynn of United Development Group in Menomonie, Wis., said his company is developing a strip mall in two phases. The first phase, which started last Friday, will be about 4,200 square feet, and will house AT&T authorized retailer Pro Cellular and Sun Tan City, which has more than 200 locations in 16 states, according to its website, suntancity.com.

The second phase, which is scheduled to start spring 2014, will add about 9,000 square feet and as many as four more tenants, Flynn said. He said he is already in talks with a couple more potential tenants.

United Development is building the strip mall next to AutoZone (1100 18th Ave. NW), on Walmart’s property just south of the parking lot along 18th Ave. NW.

Flynn said his company does a lot of development on Walmart properties, and they thought this was a good location.

Pro Cellular has already begun the hiring process.

Flynn said anyone interested in available space can call him at 712-235-3552.
