The Grand Meadow football team changed the script from their first meeting with Lanesboro as they knocked off the Burros by a score of 35-6 in the Section 1 nine man semifinals in Lanesboro Saturday.
No. 3 GM (9-1 overall) allowed 47 points to the No. 2 Burros (8-2 overall) Oct. 26, but their defense stepped up on Saturday as they allowed just 214 yards of offense and Cody Ojulu picked off three passes in the win.
GM didn’t have much of a passing attack in the win as it compiled 337 rushing yards.
“We ran the ball well and we didn’t do that the first time we played them,” GM head coach Gary Sloan said. “That was the key.”
GM junior Landon Jacobson ran for 172 yards and four TDs and Trenton Bleifus ran for 111 yards and on TD.
The Superlarks will play Spring Grove (9-1 overall) for the Section 1 nine man football title for the third straight year on Friday at RCTC at 5:30 p.m.
