Mary Jane Jansen, 77 of Austin, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at her home in Austin.

Mary Jane was born Aug. 27, 1936, at Faribault, Minn., the daughter of August and Mary (Purcell) Hagedorn. The family moved to Lakota, Iowa where Mary Jane graduated from Lakota Senior High School. She was married to Jerry Jansen on March 9, 1957, at Elmore, Minn.

The Jansens have lived in Austin where Mary Jane has been a homemaker and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She liked taking walks with Jerry, crocheting and playing cribbage. Mary Jane enjoyed spending the winter in Florida for the past several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Donald and Robert Hagedorn.

Mary Jane is survived by her husband, Jerry A. Jansen, Austin; sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Lisa Jansen, Burnsville, Minn. and grandson Braeden; David and Ginger Jansen, Virginia Beach, Va., and grandson Jeremiah and granddaughter Rebecca; three great-granddaughters.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Austin, with the Rev. Thomas Ogilvie officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday morning for one hour before the service. Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
