The United Way of Mower County is getting residents ready to help each other.

The eighth annual Day of Caring takes place Saturday, Oct. 5, starting at 8 a.m. at the Austin High School cafeteria. The annual volunteer opportunity gets residents to complete projects for homeowners and nonprofit agencies who aren’t able to do so themselves.

Team registration ends Friday, Sept. 27. Those interested must submit a team registration and volunteer consent form to the United Way offices.
