Terry Lee Legried, of Rosemount (58), passed away peacefully Aug. 18, 2013. Loving father, grandfather, and friend. The relationships that he fostered working at Dakota Electric since 1978 meant a lot to him, and the time spent at Elko speedway was both a job and a passion.120820.LegriedTerry

Terry began his involvement with Elko Speedway in the early 1990s because he was “hanging around” the track while his wife, Nance, worked at the track. He quickly became known as someone who could jerry-rig pretty much anything. On several occasions in the early years, Terry was known to save the day with a quick fix to several electrical problems, keeping the concession stands in operation. Mentored by former Elko Speedway owner Bob Fredrickson and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Director John Darby, Terry found his way to the pits, eventually taking over the reigns as technical director. Terry finished his career at Elko a couple of years ago in the capacity of race director. Terry’s wife Nance, another longtime speedway employee, passed away in January. Most of us who knew the couple well totally expect Terry to be greeted at “the gate” by Nance, who will have a “honey do” list ready for Terry. He was most definitely a man who refused to rest.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy and sister-in-law, Dana. Survived by their son, Thomas (Leilani) Legried; grandchildren, Keilani and Kendra Legried; siblings: Steve (Vicki), Debbie (Don) Bell, and Paul. He is also survived by other loving relatives and friends.
