Football: Blossoms top NRHEG in opener

NEW RICHLAND — The Blooming Prairie football team opened its season on a strong note as it beat New Richland-HEG (0-1 overall) 28-7 on the road Friday.
BP junior John Rumpza threw for 351 yards and four scores as the Awesome Blossoms (1-0 overall) rolled to a win.
“It’s the first game and we have a lot of things we need to get better at,” BP head coach Chad Gimbel said. “I thought our effort was good.”
Hunter Rudlong hauled in three TDs for BP, Ryan Doerhoefer had nine tackles and Brett Wacek had seven tackles.
BP had 10 different receivers catch passes in the win.
