Eagles Auxiliary

Eagles Auxiliary President Elaine Lane named Margaret Streightiff “Mother of the Year.” Margaret, who resides in Brownsdale, has been an Auxiliary member for 42 years. She has been an active participant in many club projects and has served as an officer. She is currently an Auxiliary trustee.

Joan Barth of Austin was named “Grandmother of the Year.” Joan has been a member for six years and served two years as Auxiliary president. She is currently Auxiliary conductor.

Duplicate Bridge

Tournament results for July 3 with five tables played: first, Orrion Roisen and David Ring; second, Bud Higgins and Jim Fisher; third, Vandy Newman and Marilyn Gesme; fourth, Joyce Crowe and Millie Seiver.

Duplicate Bridge is played each Wednesday at noon at the Mower County Senior Center in Austin. All Bridge players are welcome.

Golden Age Club

Hazel Baldner, chairperson, conducted the monthly Golden Age meeting on July 3. Dee Murphy, chaplin, read the poem “Eternal Love.”

Elaine Reynolds, treasurer, reported there are 53 paid up members and Betty Robin is the newest member.

Lucille Stratton made the motion and Carol Kline seconded it to accept the secretary and treasurer’s reports as read.

July birthdays will be celebrated by Syliva Ginder and Frances Hug (her 100th). Kathleen Erickson furnished the lunch. Cards (500) were played at seven tables.

St. Augustine Council of Catholic Women

The St. Augustine Council of Catholic Women recently met and elected a new slate of officers for the 2013-2014 season.

The new slate is: president Connie Coest, treasurer Jackie Lyons, secretary Mary Gorman and vice president Cecelia Morgan.

Upcoming dates of activities include: Bingo party for Sacred Heart residents on July 15, salad luncheon and silent auction on July 18 from 11:20 a.m. to 1 p.m., DCCW meeting at the Basilica in Winona on July 23, Austin Area Meeting at St. Peters in Rose Creek on July 23, fall convention in Laverne on Oct. 5, board meeting at 7 p.m. on July 23 and regular monthly meeting for members on Sept. 5 at 7 p.m.
