The Lord welcomed June Johnson (Hoglin) into the heavenly choir on Sunday, July 21, 2013. June passed away peacefully after suffering a stroke, at the age of 85, surrounded by her loving family.

June was born on June 4, 1928, in Kittson County, Minn., to Adolph & Freda (Nordling) Hoglin. She grew up in the Lancaster area with her six brothers and sisters, singing, performing and singing some more.

June married Everett Johnson on June 4, 1952. They lived in various Midwestern cities before arriving in Lyle, Minn., in 1971.

June was an active member, and often officer of, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church choir and Ladies Circle, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Lyle Lioness Club.

June’s passions were obvious to all who knew her: family, music and laughter.

June sang often and with many, starting with her sisters, singing anytime they stepped into a room together, what a treat to witness. She also sang with the Zumbro Valley Chapter of the Sweet Adelines while living in Rochester, Minn. She then focused her energies into raising their six children, keeping music and laughter all around.

June loved family reunions and spending time with family. However large or small the group, you can bet there were dice or cards present and more than likely a few el torro poopoos! One of her favorite family days was the weekend after Thanksgiving. Potato Sausage Day — fun, food and family tradition.

June also loved to play Bingo and was so thankful for all of her Bingo buddies who provided rides and shared in her enjoyment of the game.

She was preceded in death by her husband Everett, brothers Andy Hoglin and Ivan (Kenneth) Hoglin, and sisters Olive Angell, Verna Paquette and Gerdis Westerberg.

She will be dearly missed by her sister Beatrice Bahr, Hallock, Minn.; six children, Linda (Don) Wendorf, Lyle, Jeff (Kelly) Johnson, Pewaukee, Wis., Jim (Becky) Johnson, Rochester, Ron Johnson, Little Elm, Texas and his special friend Denise Condon, Sandy (Kevin) Ferguson, Lyle and Sue Johnson (Lisa Macklem), St. Louis Park, Minn.; sister-in-law, Trudy Hoglin, Roseau, Minn.

Grandma June will also be missed by her 12 grandchildren, Drew and Alex Wendorf, Sarah (Jared) Cooke, Bob (Melissa) Johnson, Melissa Johnson, Ben (Alison) Johnson, Nick and Megan Johnson, Alexa and Laura Ferguson, Sophie and Duncan Macklem-Johnson; and three great-grandchildren Cooper, Connor and Shainnah Cooke.

June was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. Her spirit, smile and laughter will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 26 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Lyle with the Rev. Lydia Mittag officiating. Interment will be at the Six Mile Grove Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
