Paramount’s summer shows kick into full swing

Summer is in full swing at the Historic Paramount Theatre.

The Americana-Celtic band Switchback will be performing on at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Local country musician JT Thompson will be opening for the group. There will be a beer garden set up outside the Paramount prior to the show with the Austin Jaycee’s selling beer and wine coolers.

The Austin Area Commission for the Arts is partnering with the Yoga Studio of Austin to offer donation-based yoga on the Paramount stage every Sunday at 6:30 p.m. through the summer until Aug. 25. All donations will go to support the Paramount.

The classes will primarily be lead by executive director Jennie Knoebel, who recently received a 200-hour yoga teacher certification through LifePower Yoga.

June performance events come to a close at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 22 with the local Texaco Country Showdown competition presented in partnership with KQAQ 970 AM Classic Country Legends.

July brings a free performance by the Italian band Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10 and the electrifying 10 piece band, Power of 10 will plat at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 12.

In August, Martin Zellar and Cloud Cult will be performing at Marcusen Park in conjunction with the Austin ArtWorks Festival at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24.
