“Oak Dale Memories,” a celebration of the legacy of Hormel Foods embezzler Cy Thomson and memories of Oak Dale Park, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the LeRoy Community Center.
Eileen Evans, coordinator of the event, set it up to give people an opportunity to come together and share memories of picnics, playing ball and dancing at the park. Thomson used more than $1 million of Hormel’s money to build an entertainment center in the early 1900s that drew large crowds on the weekends.
There will be tours of the Oak Dale site as well as the Sweet’s Hotel, weather permitting. The Le Roy History Club members will provide cookies and lemonade. The event is open to the public.
