Austin Police officers arrested three people Tuesday night after an alleged foot chase resulted in one suspect hiding in the trunk of a car and another person fleeing in that vehicle.

An officer was in the 100 block of 11th Street Northeast shortly after 7 p.m. and recognized a person with outstanding warrants. The suspect went into a house, and officers set up a perimeter. According to the police report, that suspect ran from the residence, and a witness saw him get into the trunk of a silver Buick near the Eagles Club of Austin.

A woman drove the vehicle away from the area. Officers later stopped that vehicle at Interstate 90, and the driver reportedly said she was going to take the man in the trunk and turn him in. Police arrested both people. The suspect hiding in the trunk had outstanding warrants for theft, possession of stolen property and aggravated robbery. He was cited on Tuesday for minor consumption and fleeing an officer on foot, as well.
