ADAMS — The No. 2 seeded Rebel baseball team held off No. 7 Lyle-Pacelli 7-1 in the Section 1A West quarterfinals in Adams Thursday.
Daniel Bollingberg led the game off with a solo homer for LP (11-5 overall), but the Athletics had just three hits the rest of the way off of Southland pitchers Decker Bendtsen and Luke Anderson.
“Both guys threw really good for us,” Southland head coach Scott Retterath said. “In the playoffs, it’s not how much you win by as long as you win.”
LP committed four errors in the loss and the Rebels (13-2 overall) took advantage as five of their runs were unearned.
Taylar Schwartz was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Southland and Trent Reinartz was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Southland will now play Hayfield in the Section 1A semifinals in Riverland at 10 a.m. Saturday.
