Jane Taylor to raise money for leukemia at annual recital

Jane Taylor Academy of Dance students are about to wrap up a busy season.

The studio will hold its 49th annual recital at 7 p.m. Saturday in Austin’s High School Knowlton Auditorium. Tickets are $5 and will be sold at the door. Flowers will be sold at the recital, and all proceeds will be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

This past season, the dancers presented the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with more than $400.

This season dancers competed at three competitions and were awarded second and fourth place high score overall in senior division (Senior Company jazz), second place high score overall junior division (Junior Company jazz), third and fifth place high score overall senior division (Senior and Junior Company tap), fourth place high score overall senior division (Senior Company jazz), seventh high score overall teen lines (Senior, Junior and Performing Company lyrical), third high score overall teen solo division (Katherine Salazar), fifth high score overall teen solo division (Paige Goetz), and seventh high score overall teen solo division (Jenna Anderson).

The dancers also received two platinum awards, 17 high gold awards and two gold awards. Betsy Ettinger and Paige Goetz received special judges awards. Starpower —scored on a scale of five stars — awarded the Jane Taylor dancers were awarded 4 3⁄4 stars to seven 7 routines, 4 1⁄2 stars to two routines, and 4 1⁄4 starts to one routine.

Students competing were: Paige Goetz, Katherine Salazar, Jenna Anderson, Laura Ferguson, Betsy Ettinger, Autumn Engesser, Aidan Eastlee, Dorothy Stevens, Dariel Bustad, Christina Hernandez, Tehya Kvam, Lilly Nystel, Kassidy Kirtz, Madison Hasley, Lauren Riskedahl, Joseph Seeman, Levi Seeman, Micha Weber, Jacy Hansen, Jordan Harmon, Tasha Engesser, Fayth Nystel, Emily Conroy and Siri Ansorge.
