Eleonore E. Silbernick, 84, of Austin, Minn., died Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home.

Eleonore Ella Sabrowsky was born July 7, 1928, in Albany, Minn., to Frederick and Mabel (Buth) Sabrowsky. Eleonore grew up in Albany and attended country school, graduating from Albany High School. On April 18, 1947, Eleonore married Clarence L. Silbernick in Albany. Following their marriage, they moved to Austin where Clarence began work as a chemist at the Hormel Institute and Eleonore attended Austin Junior College. An active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and the Austin Art Group, Eleonore also enjoyed spending her time gardening, camping and traveling, especially on flights to California. She loved her grandchildren.

Survivors include her sons, Keith Silbernick and Gary Silbernick, both of Austin; daughters, Lavonne “Loni” (David) Baldner of Lyle and Debra (Doug) Rutledge of Austin; seven grandchildren, Trenton (Maren) Rutledge, Jeremy Rutledge, Michael Rutledge, John Baldner, Dawn Nowak, Adam (Kate) Silbernick, and Trina Silbernick; seven great-grandchildren, Tera, Liz, Alivia, Miah, Kelly, Gavin, and Stella; siblings Adeline (Art) Rohe of Waconia, Minn., Aaron (Leona) Sabrowsky of Mesa, Ariz., Ray (Erna) Sabrowsky of La Mirada, Calif.; nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Mabel Sabrowsky; her husband, Clarence Silbernick; her brothers, Art and Alfred; and her sisters, Esther and Hildegard.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin, with the Rev. Brian Krueger officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Austin. Memorials can be directed to the Hormel Institute for Cancer Research.
