Austin writer Sean E. Williams is getting a lot of attention in the world of comics.

Williams will pen the next six volumes of “Fairest,” the spinoff comic of the Eisner Award-winning “Fables” series. His first issue of the “Return of the Maharaja” arc, “Fairest: 15,” went on sale Tuesday, and he will be at Legacy Comics and Games from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 4, to sign copies of his work.

A film producer for several years, Williams transitioned to fiction writing about three years ago after pitching an idea to Bill Willingham, creator of “Fables.” Willingham, who is known for his collaboration with other writers and artists in the “Fables” universe, agreed to allow Williams write several “Fairest” issues.

Williams is also making a name for himself in digital comics. He and Adam Knave co-created “Artful Daggers,” a medieval spy drama inspired by “A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court,” with Andrew Losq.
