AHS students recognized at High Distinction Banquet

Thirteen Austin High School seniors were recognized for their academic achievement at the annual High Distinction Banquet held April 28 at the Austin Eagles.

Each honored student selected one K-12 teacher to recognize for the impact they have had on their education. Students earning high distinction recognition had a cumulative unweighted 3.9 grade point average.

The students and teachers recognized at the banquet sponsored by Austin Public Schools’ Gifted and Talented include: Janna Akkerman, honored teacher Sherri Pike; Christine Barinka, honored teacher Margaret Erickson; Courtney Bogle, honored teacher Tracey Reynen; Megan Brown, honored teacher Marilyn Anderson; John Fleiner, honored teacher Ryan Stanley; Paige Goetz, honored teacher Cheryl Dunlap; Helen Heimark, honored teacher Lisa Rueckert; Mollie Mickelson, honored teacher Eric Vaughn; Melissa Navoa, honored teacher Rhonda Alberts; Sydney Ogilvie, honored teacher Bobbi Garringer; Karyn Potach, honored teacher Lisa Rueckert; Robert Sherman, honored teacher Brian Johnson; and Alexander Thorson, honored teacher Mark Anderson.
