A suspect linked with thefts from the Mower County Senior Center denied charges against him Thursday in Mower County Court.

Brennon Scott Randall, 21, of Austin, pleaded not guilty to felonies for third-degree burglary and theft and not guilty to petty misdemeanor charges for marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession.

An Austin Police officer stopped a 16-year-old driver in the 700 block of 10th Street Northwest shortly after midnight May 8 for driving without his lights on. According to the court complaint, the officer noticed a marijuana grinder in plain view in the car. The officer arrested the driver and Randall and questioned them about numerous candy bars, jerky sticks, a case of soda, two large speakers, an audio receiver and a typewriter, which were reportedly missing from the senior center.

The officer also found 4.5 grams of marijuana in the car, along with several hundred dollars in cash. Both suspects were placed in the Mower County jail. According to the court complaint, Randall told officers about stealing the items with the 16-year-old, who was doing community service at the Senior Center.

The 16-year-old was arrested for DWI, burglary and theft. Randall has a pretrial set for Aug. 16.
