Packer tennis team falls to Mankato East

The Austin boys tennis team lost 4-3 to Mankato East at Paulson tennis courts Saturday.
The Packers (0-2 overall, 0-2 Big Nine) swept the three doubles matches, but dropped all four singles matches.
No. 4 singles player Cole Nicol lost in three sets as he fell 6-2 in the final set.
“Cole played a long and hard match but it didn’t fall through for us,” Austin head coach Troy Diekman said. “The doubles teams played very well but our singles matches couldn’t get the wins. We had a very close match and are excited to play again Tuesday (at Mankato West).”

No. 1 Colton Detwiler (A) lost 6-0, 6-0
No. 2 Jeremy Olsmted (A) lost 6-1, 6-1
No. 3 Seth Hebrink (A) lost 6-0, 6-0
No. 4 Cole Nicol (A) lost 6-2, 4-6, 6-2
DOUBLES
No. 1 Pat Wagner and Bob Sherman (A) won 6-1, 6-2
No. 2 Ethan Larson and Nick Brehmer (A) won 6-2, 6-1
No. 3 Ethan Andreson and Carter Steichen won 6-2, 6-1
