Hundreds learn to fight the blaze

Riverland Community College’s Fire and Safety Division, in cooperation with the Rochester Community and Technical College, coordinated the Minnesota State Fire/EMS/Rescue School April 6 and 7.

Participants gained classroom and hands-on experience in a variety of safety courses designed to enhance performance in community fire departments. There were 417 firefighter/EMS personnel at the training session from 117 agencies. Most were from Minnesota, though some came from Iowa and Wisconsin. There were 30 classes with about 50 instructors and 16 vendors showcasing their goods.
