An Austin man convicted in a July break-in and assault was sentenced to seven years in prison Thursday in Mower County Court.

Darren Yahudah Thompson, 26, pleaded guilty to first-degree burglary and domestic assault in December and was sentenced Friday to 84 months in prison. He was given credit for 204 days served in jail.

According to the court complaint, the victim would no longer let Thompson in her home on July 5, 2012. However, Thompson allegedly kicked in the door and hit the woman in the face. A friend of the victim called 911, and Thompson allegedly fled when he saw her on the phone. Police were not able to find Thompson, as he allegedly hopped a fence and was gone from the area. They arrested him on Aug. 8.
