WATERVILLE – The Austin wrestling team lost to Waterville-Elysian-Morristown-Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton 48-24 in the first round of the Section 1AA team wrestling tournament Thursday.

“I was proud of the way our kids wrestled tonight,” Austin head coach Bill Kinney said. “Our line-up included three guys that hadn’t wrestled before this season, two middle school kids, five sophomores, and one freshman. With all of that said, we competed very well with this team.”

The Packers (6-10 overall) allowed six pins and two forfeits in the loss.

The Packers will now prepare for the Section 1AA individual tournament, which takes place next Friday and Saturday at Mayo Civic Center in Rochester.
