The Austin boys hockey team held on to beat La Crescent (8-16) 3-2 in Riverside Arena Tuesday.
Austin’s Nick Castellano scored on assists from Tony Baudler and Adam Maxfield to make it 3-1 Packers five minutes into the third period and the Lancers pulled to within 3-2 with a minute left in the game when they scored on a powerplay.
“It was a big section win, but we’ve got to learn to play better,” Austin head coach Erik LaRock said.
The Packers (7-14-1 overall) fired off 62 shots on goal, but they didn’t connect on very many of them.
Marcus Stoulil had a goal and an assist and Ethan Larson had a goal for Austin.
“Their goalie played good, but we just weren’t in position to put the puck in the net,” LaRock said.
Rainer Londino-Green had 30 saves in the net for the Packers.
