Adeline J. Henricks, 95, of Austin, Minn., died Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Sacred Heart Care Center, Austin.
Adeline Julianne Thompson was born Feb. 16, 1917, to Astor and Johanna (Aldahl) Thompson in Freeborn County. She attended Freeborn County schools and graduated from Adams High School in 1935. Upon graduating from high school Adeline was awarded a college scholarship in Minneapolis; however, circumstances prevented her from using it. She graduated from Teacher’s Normal College and taught in country schools. On July 16, 1939, Adeline married Harry “Al” Henricks at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. After Al completed his service in the Army, Adeline and Al moved to Austin where they lived the remainder of their lives. Harry passed away on June 26, 1989. Adeline was a very humble and down-to-earth person. She was very loving and caring and had a special bond with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Jim (Verle) Henricks, Dubuque, Iowa, Bruce (Christine) Henricks, Austin; daughters, Jean (Bryan) Baudler, Austin, Sharon (Tom) Sachs, Alexandria, Va., Marianne (predeceased by Stan) Wayne, Albert Lea; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ory Ann Champlin, Blooming Prairie, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Astor and Johanna Thompson; husband, Harry; son-in-law, Stan Wayne; one brother; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin with the Rev. Bill Odermann officiating. Friends may call at the Worlein Funeral Home of Austin from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday and at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Red Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Austin. The family prefers memorials to St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Sacred Heart Care Center, or St. Mark’s Lutheran Home. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
