Vision 2020 is getting pink with the rest of Austin next month.

The Vision 2020 Waterways Committee is sponsoring “Plunging for Pink,” an event where participants will raise funds to jump into Eastside Lake at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9.

Waterways Committee volunteers are working with the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau to launch the event and highlight the water quality at East Side Lake, in order to encourage year-round water recreation.

Participants will collect donations for The Hormel Institute from friends and family and then jump on Feb. 9. Organizers are hoping for 100 participants for the inaugural year.

The Austin Park & Recreation and Fire departments will be providing logistical support for the event. Plans are underway for refreshments, entertainment, a warming tent and a hot tub.

A post-party will take place with music from the Bissen Brothers Band at 5:30 p.m. at the Eagles Club.
