Test your home for radon

Mower County Community Health and Environmental Health Services and the Minnesota Department of Health recommend all homes be tested for radon as part of Radon Awareness Month.
Radon is an odorless, colorless, tasteless, radioactive gas that occurs naturally in soils. Testing is the only way to know if a home has an elevated level of radon, which can cause lung cancer.
Free test kits are available at Mower County Health and Human Services, 1301 18th Ave. NW, Suite A, Austin, open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The test kits are also available at Mower County Public Works, 1105 Eighth Ave. NE, open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
