Schammel grabs top spot on Southland scoring list

TRITON — Southland senior Jana Schammel became the school’s all-time leading scorer when she tallied her 1,590th point in a 68-33 win at Triton (3-12 overall) Thursday.

Schammel had 13 points in the win, which was just enough for her to pass Sarah Tompkins at the top of the scoring list for the Rebels (13-2 overall).

“She’s just a good all around ball player and she takes things as they come,” Southland head coach Bob Sheehan said.

Haley Kirkpatrick had 16 points.
