Facility’s lone doctor to retire
The Grand Meadow medical clinic will soon be closed.
Mayo Clinic Health System — Albert Lea and Austin announced the retirement of Dr. Michael Gregg, from Mayo Clinic Health System in Grand Meadow, and along with it the closing of his office.
A spokesperson for the health system said Gregg was the sole provider at the clinic, where he worked for over 30 years, and his last day will be Friday, March 29. The spokesperson said the decision to close was not made lightly and several factors influenced the decision, including an inability to recruit a replacement physician and the availability of health care facilities within a few miles of Grand Meadow.
“We know this will change where patients receive their care, but are confident they will receive the same high level of care at one of our nearby locations,” said Tammy Kritzer, vice president of operations.
Kritzer pointed to the health system’s facilities in Adams, Alden, Blooming Prairie, Kiester, LeRoy, New Richland and Wells in Minnesota or the one in Lake Mills, Iowa, as possible alternatives, all with access to Grand Meadow patients’ records.
