Dairy Princess, Milkmaid program taking applicants

The Mower County American Dairy Association is seeking candidates to participate in the 2013 Mower County Dairy Princess contest and the Mower County Milkmaid program.
Judging will be held March 30, with the coronation taking place at the 60th annual banquet, Friday, April 5, in Adams.
Dairy Princess candidates must be at least a senior in high school and younger than 24 by July 1. The candidate or her parents must be actively engaged in the production of milk in Mower County for sale to a licensed plant during the current year. A candidate also qualifies if she or her parents are employed on a dairy farm in a dairy-related capacity. Mower County dairy royalty are paid for their appearances and receive college scholarships.
Girls in third and fourth grade, whose parents or guardians are Mower County dairy farmers or employed on a dairy farm, are eligible to be Mower County Milkmaids. Milkmaids can participate at dairy promotion events throughout the county. This is a Mower County program and there is no further competition beyond the county level.
