Bruins place five in prospect tourney

The Austin Bruins will have five players in the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, which takes place at Troy, Mich. Feb. 18-20.
The players include forwards John Simonson, who has 21 goals and 18 assists, Brandon Wahlin, who has 17 goals and 36 assists, AJ Reid, who has 12 goals and 31 assists, defenseman Cody Dixon, who has eight goals and 19 assists, and goalie Nick Lehr, who has a record of 19-6-4 with a save percentage of .917 and goals against average of 2.40.
The five Bruins will all play for team Dakota, which will be coached by Bruins head coach Chris Tok.
The tournament will include 120 of the top NAHL players and their will be six teams competing.
In a very short period of time, the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament has become one of the most highly-scouted events of its kind. Last season, over 160 scouts attended the event, which featured almost every NHL team and NCAA Division I school. Over a third of the players that competed in last year’s event ended up with an NCAA Division I opportunity.
