Bruins open in Minot series with win

The Austin Bruins improved their NAHL Central Division-leading record to 30-6-5 Friday night with a 5-0 shutout of fourth-place Minot in Minot.
John Simonson had two goals, with one in each of the second and third periods while CJ Smith tallied three assists on the night.
The Bruins put themselves on top in the first period with goals from Easton Viitala and Riley Colvard.
Two of Austin’s goals on the night were power play goals.
Jason Pawloski got the win in net for the Bruins stopping all 33 shots Minot sent at him.
