BLOOMING PRAIRIE — The Blooming Prairie boys basketball team prevailed after a couple of letdowns to beat No. 10 ranked Faribault Bethlehem Academy (8-4 overall, 3-1 Gopher) 72-66 in double overtime in BP Friday.
The Cardinals scored at the end of regulation and the end of the first overtime to extend the game, but BP (5-6 overall, 2-1 Gopher) outlasted them.
“We were able to withstand those runs and not get down,” BP head coach John Bruns said. “We lost two games by a total of three points in the last two weeks and to get a win like this against a team as good as FBA is huge. The kids had some pretty big smiles on their faces after this one.”
BP’s Michael Thomas had 26 points, 10 rebounds and four assists and John Rumpza had 22 points, 16 rebounds and three assists in the win.
BP trailed 29-14 at the break.
