The Mower County Sheriff’s office received two more burglary reports on Monday, adding to the string of others that have happened in the past weeks.
Authorities received two calls Monday morning, the first at 6:45 a.m. about a burglary at 56 Auto Repair in Rose Creek. Someone from the business reported $200 in cash and a $3,200 scan tool as stolen. Furthermore, the thief reportedly broke a $500 window to enter the business.
At 7:30 a.m. Monday, authorities received another burglary report from the Windrift Lounge north of Austin on 11th Street NE. The owners say someone broke in through a door after they closed on Sunday night and stole two cartons of cigarettes, six bottles of whiskey and six bottles of root beer schnapps. With the damage to the door, the loss total is estimated at $1,800.
Authorities have no suspects in either case but believe the two cases could be linked to other recent burglaries, which have included a home, a truck and a construction trailer within the last week in rural Mower County.
“They could all be related,” said Sheriff Terese Amazi. “We don’t have any suspects at this time, but we do have some leads.”
