Royal ‘Roy’ Lee Morgan, 60, Austin

Royal ‘Roy’ Lee Morgan, 60, of Austin, Minn., died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea, Minn.

He was born Nov. 4, 1951, in Austin to Harry and Ora (Anderson) Morgan. After graduating from Austin High School in 1970, Roy attended the Minneapolis Area Vocational Technical Institute. He was employed by Red Wing Shoes in Red Wing, Minn., for many years. Roy enjoyed having a good pizza with a beer. He liked spectator sports, calling himself a sports ‘junkie’. He was a Vikings fan, but was especially devoted to the Minnesota Twins. A charter member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Austin, Roy enjoyed bowling and was a past member of the Eagles Club. After living in Red Wing from 1982-2003 and Kenyon, Minn., from 2004-2007, he then moved back to Austin. In August 2012 Roy moved to St. John’s in Albert Lea, Minn.

Survivors include his brother Ralph Morgan of Long Prairie, Minn.; a sister Rosemary Foulk of Mesa, Ariz.; uncles Kenneth (Sharon) Anderson of Blooming Prairie, Minn., Russell (Linda) Anderson of Austin, Dwayne Anderson (Carolyn Schutz) of Hayward, Minn.; aunts June Morgan of Blooming Prairie, Jean (Elden) Huemann and Karen Kinny both of Austin; three nieces, Michelle (Tim) Risting and their daughters Meghan and Mackenzie of Elk River, Lana (Troy) Stuhr and their children Adam and Alex of Apple Valley, Kristine Fisher of Minneapolis; nephew Kane Stephens of Honolulu. He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Ora and a brother-in-law, Larry Foulk.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with Pastor Karen Behling officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Austin.
