James David Weaver, 77, Dexter

James (Jim) D. Weaver, 77, passed away Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Dexter.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Dexter United Methodist Church, in Dexter. Jim’s wishes were to donate his remains to the Department of Anatomy for research at Mayo Clinic. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Jim was born Feb. 27, 1935, in Gillette, Wyo. He was one of five children of LaVera and Max Weaver. Jim grew up in Gresham, Ore., and graduated from Gresham High School. After graduation, Jim entered the Army and was a paratrooper with the Special Forces. After being honorably discharged from the military, Jim married the love of his life, Glenda Walker, on Nov. 21, 1957. The couple had four children. After moving around the United States, Jim and Glenda settled in Dexter, where they finished raising their family. Jim was employed by FISCO in Rochester, retiring in 2002. After retirement, Jim spent his time delivering food from the food shelf to Dexter residents. He also enjoyed fishing, being outdoors and mostly spending time with his family.

Jim will be greatly missed by his wife of 55 years, Glenda, and his four children, James Weaver (Dawn), Richard Weaver (Kay), Cynthia Wollenburg (Dan), and Jeffrey Weaver; grandchildren John O’Grady, Joshua O’Grady, Elizabeth Weaver, Nathaniel Weaver, John Weaver/Allison Benttine, Rebecca Weaver/Dan Nave, Joey Wollenburg, Katie Wollenburg, Justin Wollenburg; great-grandchild Lucas Benttine; brothers Max Weaver, of Washington, and Frank (Ruth) Weaver of Oregon; sisters Eileen Copus and Mary Sandal, both of Oregon.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Max and LaVera Weaver and sister Florence.
