Heimark advances to finals

ST. PAUL – The Austin girls swimming and diving team advanced one swimmer to the finals and one relay team to the consolation finals at the Class ‘A’ swimming and diving meet in the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in St. Paul Friday.

Austin senior Helen Heimark slipped into the finals by four-tenths of a second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.98 seconds.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Heimark, Merideth Fritz, Maddie Kinney and Lindsey McAlister took 15th and will swim in Saturday’s consolation finals.

Austin diver Autumn Laury will also compete in Saturday’s finals,which start at noon, as she is in third place with three dives to go.
