With the turkeys consumed, it’s time to get ready for Christmas.

The Mower County Historical Society is again hosting a presale bake sale during this year’s Christmas in the County.

From 4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 7 and 3 to 7 p.m. Dec. 8, there is a chance to get Christmas cookies, lefse and other Christmas treats bought before the Saturday extravaganza. Dec. 8 also features outdoor/indoor activities. Admission is free, but donations are accepted.

Saturday’s outdoor activities will include sleigh and wagon rides around the fairgrounds. Everyone will also have the chance to climb into the 1004 steam engine and blow the whistle. Families can work together on crafts such as ornament making, decorating cookies, and making pinecone bird feeders. Homemade chili and hot dogs will also be for sale.

Visitors can buy raffle tickets to win one of nine prizes, including a homemade Dick & Jane quilt, a jacuzzi suite from the Holiday Inn and a $50 Visa gift card from Accentra Credit Union, among others. Tickets are $1 each. Raffle winners will be drawn at 6 p.m. Saturday. They can be purchased at the MCHS office. A silent auction will include items for everyone in the family. Bids can be placed during Saturday’s activities until 6:45 p.m.

Any person or business that would like to assist with baked goods for the bake sale or silent auction items may contact the Mower County Historical Society at 507-437-6082.
