Austin diver advances to state finals

ST. PAUL — Austin junior diver Autumn Laury not only advanced to the finals in diving at the Class ‘A’ state swimming and diving meet, she’s also in position to make the podium at the state diving preliminaries in the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in St. Paul Thursday.

Laury is currently sitting in third place out of the 16 finalists as she tallied a score of 249.10 on her first set of dives.

Laury, who is competing in her first career state meet, trails Northfield’s Bailey DuPay, who has a score of 279.75 and Albert Lea’s Karli Kriewall, who has a score of 260.15.

With three dives to go, Laury has a 12-point lead on the third and fourth place divers.

The diving finals will be held Saturday at the Aquatic Center at noon.
