HAYFIELD — The Hayfield football team opened strong, but struggled for most of the night in a 17-7 loss to Pine Island (1-6 overall) in Hayfield Friday.

The Vikings opened the game with a scoring drive that saw Nate Timmons score TD, but Hayfield had five turnovers on the night and couldn’t get any more points on the board.

Hayfield (1-6 overall) trailed 10-7 going into the fourth quarter.

Timmons had 14 carries for 67 yards and had 12 tackles for Hayfield and Merrick Ducharme had 13 tackles.
