Richard D. Berg, 79, of Austin, Minn., died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, Minn.

Richard was born Jan. 28, 1933, in Austin to Philip and Gladys (Brechtel) Berg. He grew up in Austin and graduated from Austin High School. On June 13, 1959, he married Doris J. Wilkemeyer in Austin. Richard was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church.

Survivors include two sons, Philip and Lori A. Berg, LaCrosse, Wis.; George and Melissa Berg, Lakeville, Minn.; a daughter, Malla (Raymond) Iten, Becker, Minn.; nine grandchildren, Kelly, Stephanie, Katie, Richard, Ryan, Ashley, Aubrey, (Maurice), Parker; three great-grandchildren, Ethan, Emma, Ella; two sisters, Marion Srp, Austin, Evelyn and Kenneth Heimer, Austin; a brother, Darrell and Rose Berg, Austin; nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Gladys Berg; his wife, Doris Jo; his son-in-law, Raymond Iten; and his grandson, Maurice.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Dale Tupper officiating. There will be a 7:30 p.m. wake service on Friday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. The family will also greet friends at a luncheon following the service at the church on Saturday. Military rites will be by American Legion Post No. 91.
