TRITON — The Hayfield football team nearly closed out its regular season with an upset, but the Vikings fell short by a score of 20-13 at Triton (6-2 overall) Wednesday.

Triton snapped a 13-13 tie when Aryton Henderson broke off an 80-yard TD run in the third quarter. The Vikings (1-7 overall) had two more chances in the red zone, but couldn’t score.

Cole Kruger had 11 carries for 95 yards and two TDs for Hayfield and Nate Timmons had 11 carries for 65 yards.
